Bespoke Kuba Cloth Lampshades — Vintage African Raffia

from $215.00

Crafted in our Lampshade Studio by Bibelot Home. There are lampshades and then there is this.

Kuba cloth is one of the most extraordinary textiles in the world — a vintage raffia fabric woven and cut by hand in the Republic of Congo, its geometric patterns the result of centuries of tradition passed down through generations of Kuba artisans. No two pieces of cloth are the same.

Each piece of vintage Kuba cloth we source yields only two or three shades. When they are gone, that particular cloth is gone forever. What you are purchasing is genuinely one of a kind.

Our shades are handcrafted in our studio and lined with a cream linen. The professionally rolled edge adds both durability and a refined, high-end finish that reflects the quality of the cloth it frames.

Kuba cloth comes in a range of patterns and colorways — cream and black, orange and earth tones, geometric grids, interlocking forms. Each piece has its own character. We will work with you to find the right cloth for your project.

HOW TO ORDER:

Purchase to begin the conversation. Once your order is placed we will reach out with photographs of currently available Kuba cloths and work with you through images and Zoom if needed to select the right piece for your project. The shade style — drum or empire.

DIMENSIONS: Lampshade dimensions are measured as: Top Diameter × Bottom Diameter × Side Length. Final dimensions are determined during the consultation based on cloth availability and your lamp's requirements.

LEAD TIME: Approximately 2 weeks from cloth selection confirmation.

CARE: Dust gently with a soft dry cloth or low-pressure air. Avoid moisture. Handle with care — this is a vintage textile and should be treated as the heirloom it is.

SHIPPING: Shipping will be invoiced separately but typically runs $30 for 1 shade.
