Terms & Conditions
Overview
These Terms & Conditions govern your use of rutledgeatelier.com and any purchases or custom project agreements made through Rutledge Atelier. By using our site or engaging our services you agree to the following terms.
Our Services
Rutledge Atelier operates as a boutique procurement and custom fabrication firm. We offer three primary services: ready-to-ship products available for purchase through our online shop, custom fabrication services coordinated through our maker network, and full-scope procurement and project management for hospitality and residential projects.
Custom Orders — Final Sale
All custom and made-to-order pieces are final sale. Because custom work is produced specifically for your project — to your specifications, in your chosen materials, finishes, and dimensions — no returns or exchanges are accepted once production has begun. Throughout the production process, Rutledge Atelier provides progress updates and approval checkpoints so clients can review work in progress and request adjustments where possible. Please note that changes requested after certain stages of production may result in additional fees.
Deposits & Payment
Custom and full-scope projects require a 70% deposit to initiate production. The remaining balance is due prior to delivery or installation. Production does not begin until written approval and deposit payment are received.
Ready-to-ship purchases made through our online shop are charged in full at the time of purchase.
All payments are made to Rutledge Atelier. We manage distribution to each maker and oversee all production scheduling on your behalf.
Lead Times
Lead times vary by product and maker. Typical estimates are as follows:
Upholstery and soft goods — approximately 6 weeks. Custom furniture and case goods — approximately 12 weeks. Custom rugs — approximately 3 months. Ready-to-ship and short-lead items — approximately 4 to 8 weeks.
Lead times are estimates and may be affected by material availability, production schedules, or circumstances beyond our control. We communicate proactively about any changes to your timeline.
Trade Pricing
Rutledge Atelier's compensation is built into our makers' pricing. Verified trade clients receive trade-equivalent pricing with no added markup. Trade status is verified through our Trade Application process.
Intellectual Property
All content on rutledgeatelier.com — including photography, copy, branding, and design — is the property of Rutledge Atelier and may not be reproduced without written permission.
Changes to These Terms
Rutledge Atelier reserves the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of our site or services constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
Shipping
Shipping is billed separately from the cost of goods and is managed through Rutledge Atelier. Shipping costs will be outlined in your proposal or communicated prior to delivery for ready-to-ship purchases. Risk of loss transfers to the client upon delivery. Rutledge Atelier is not responsible for damage that occurs after delivery has been accepted.
Damage Claims
All pieces should be inspected upon delivery. Any damage must be reported to Rutledge Atelier within 48 hours of receipt with photographic documentation. Claims submitted after 48 hours may not be eligible for resolution.
Returns & Maker Policies
Custom & Made-to-Order Items
All custom and made-to-order pieces are final sale. No returns or exchanges are accepted.
Ready-to-Ship Items
Returns on ready-to-ship items are handled on a per-maker basis. Each maker sets their own return policy and all returns are subject to the individual maker's terms. Please refer to the policy listed on each maker's page in our Artisan Directory before purchasing. Rutledge Atelier facilitates all return communications and acts as your single point of contact, but final return eligibility and resolution are governed by the maker's individual policy.
Return shipping costs are the responsibility of the client unless the item arrives damaged or defective.
