DAWN NAKAMURA

Sculptural Works for Remarkable Interiors

Bespoke butterfly domes, shell structures, and sculptural installations by Dawn Nakamura

GET TO KNOW DAWN

Part artist, part storyteller, Dawn Nakamura transforms the extraordinary beauty of the natural world into captivating sculptural works for the home.

Drawing from a lifelong reverence for nature, Dawn creates one-of-a-kind compositions using sustainably sourced butterflies, iridescent insects, specimen shells, and architectural shell forms—each thoughtfully arranged to evoke movement, curiosity, and wonder. Working primarily within antique 19th-century European domes and bespoke shell installations, her pieces blur the line between fine art and decorative object.

No two compositions are ever alike. Each work is deeply personal—guided by a project’s design language, the surrounding architecture, and the client’s own imagination.

Collected internationally and featured in distinguished residences and showhouses, Dawn’s work has appeared in Elle Decor, Veranda, Southern Living, Garden & Gun, and beyond. Her pieces have been commissioned by celebrated designers including Amanda Lindroth, Charlotte Lucas, Ramsey Lyons, Alessandra Branca, and Ashley Gilbreath, and can be found in notable private collections worldwide.

Whether a butterfly dome resting quietly atop a console or a dramatic shell-clad fireplace surround anchoring a room, Dawn’s work invites a sense of wonder—bringing nature indoors in a way that feels both timeless and entirely unexpected.
